Admissions

What you need before you start.

Every bootcamp takes complete beginners. The Occupational Certificates are registered qualifications, so their entry level is set by the National Qualifications Framework rather than by us.

The two routes

Which one are you looking at?

Occupational Certificates

Who it suits

Someone who wants a qualification an employer or a university can look up on the national framework.

What you need to start

Matric, or an NQF Level 4 equivalent, for most of the nine. Entrepreneurship starts at Grade 10 and Graphic Design at Grade 11.

How long it takes

18 months to 2 years, part time, so it can be done alongside a job.

What you leave with

A QCTO-accredited Occupational Certificate, registered on the NQF with a SAQA ID.

Bootcamps

Who it suits

Someone who wants to be employable in one specific job, as quickly as it can honestly be done.

What you need to start

Nothing. No Matric, no degree, no prior experience with code.

How long it takes

9 weeks to 7 months.

What you leave with

A certificate of completion and a portfolio of work you built, which is what a hiring manager asks to see.

Both run online and live from anywhere in South Africa, both are open to anyone over 16, and both need a computer and a stable internet connection.

Questions

Questions people ask.

  • What are the requirements for IT courses at Zaio?

Matric or an NQF Level 4 equivalent for an Occupational Certificate; nothing for a bootcamp. Two NQF Level 4 business certificates accept Grade 10.

  • Do I need matric for a coding bootcamp?

No. Zaio's bootcamps have no entry requirement: no matric, no degree, no experience. You need a computer, internet and the time for live classes.

  • What are the cybersecurity course requirements?

Matric or equivalent plus basic computer literacy for the Occupational Certificate: Cybersecurity Analyst; none for the Cybersecurity bootcamp.

  • Can I apply without my matric results?

Yes. Apply and speak to an advisor now; results are confirmed before enrolment, and RPL is available if you fall short.
